'A Conversation with an Immigration Lawyer'
Hosted by Camino de Fe

Camino de Fe’s mission is to make followers of Jesus who in turn make other followers of Jesus, and we provide tools and resources for people to engage in and be a part of the American way of life. Our mission drives everything that we do.

These past two weeks were really busy for us because we had a back-to-back event in Raritan and in Bernardsville. Our event was called, ‘A Conversation with an Immigration Lawyer.” Attorney Susan Scheer and her professional Bilingual team visited us and shared with us their knowledge and paths for individuals to seek legal status in this country.

The event in Bernardsville took place on Friday, Feb. 21st. We invited the community at large to be part of this free event. The school district helped us spread the word with English Language Learners families. Before the event took place, I shared with the participants who we are as a church and gave a sample of what we do on Fridays and Sundays. I talked about living in fear and how God does not want us to live that way. Once the lawyer arrived I asked four or five questions to break the ice and people started asking questions once they were comfortable.

The event in Raritan took place on Wednesday, Feb 12. The school district in Somerville also helped us spread the word with the community. After a small devotional the lawyer started her presentation in the same way as in Bernardsville.
This is what we mean by giving people the tools and resources they need. In this case, we gave them knowledge and hope that there is a way to a legal status. We reassured them that God loves them and he demonstrated that in Jesus. In our coffee hour, I spoke with many of the participants and welcomed them individually. They were grateful and amazed that a church cares for them in this way.

Our next events are about health and nutrition, scholarships for preschools and finances and taxes. We are partnering with associations such as the Bernard’s Health Department, Middle Earth, and individuals to bring these events to our community.

Our church in Bernardsville continues to gather for Bible Study every Friday and for worship every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Our gatherings are Bilingual so you can visit us! Our church in Raritan meets every Wednesday for Bible Study. We are building our community there in the way that we started Bernardsville. We hope that soon we will have enough momentum to start worship services on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.

Don’t forget that you can support us online at supportcaminodefe.church or you can send your check to the LCMS-NJ District Office – Memo Camino de Fe. Also help us in our need of worship artifacts and equipment. Click the button below to view the list.

Thank you for your prayers and continue to keep us in your prayers. Keep me and my family in your prayers as we continue to share the Gospel in this area. Keep the families of both Raritan and in Bernardsville in your prayers. Pray that God will open the hearts of people to be receptive of His word.
